Native American Education Student Ambassador

 

Location: Riverton High School/Central Office

Reports to: Native American Education Director

Supervises: None

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Junior of Senior in high school
  • Ability to work alone for short periods of time
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to report to work at several FCSD#25 locations
  • Maintain consistent academic eligibility
  • Display integrity, professionalism, and demeanor that reflects well on the school district

 POSITION SUMMARY

The Native American Education Student Ambassador will assist the Native American Education team with providing opportunities for staff and students to gain knowledge about Native American culture, history, and experiences to support Native American Education efforts in the district. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop individual and panel presentations for staff, students and community about their experiences in education.
  • Participate in the planning process for implementing Native American Education initiatives.
  • Facilitate activities for youth during Native American Education Parent Meetings.
  • Support Native American Education staff in implementing activities and events outside of school hours.
  • Engage in research projects about Native American history, language, and culture. 
  • Provide peer-mentor support to Native American Students. 
  • Serve as a member on the Title VI - Indian Parent Committee.
  • Other duties as assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence.

 

EVALUATION

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certified or classified personnel.

 

SALARY SCHEDULE

This position will be paid according to the approved Temporary Salary Schedule. 

$16 per hour

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Determined by supervisor.

Employment is contingent on a local, state, and federal criminal background clearance.
