About Purple House
Our mission is to improve the lives of people with renal failure, reunite families and reduce the impact of kidney disease in our communities.
We are run by Aboriginal people for Aboriginal people and work to provide culturally appropriate dialysis services in remote communities, helping people to get home to country and family.
Position Functions
- Lead and support the Kurrunpa Kana Team through supervision, mentoring, and professional development.
- Deliver and review Purple House cultural orientation and cultural capability programs.
- Promote and strengthen cultural safety across policies, recruitment, workforce practices, and programs.
- Develop Indigenous Engagement strategies, training resources, and culturally appropriate workforce initiatives.
- Build respectful relationships with communities, Elders, Traditional Owners, and Aboriginal organisations.
- Support recruitment, development, and retention of First Nations employees and future leaders.
- Coordinate First Nations engagement projects and ensure community voices are central to service delivery.
- Provide cultural guidance and support to managers and staff across Purple House.
- Represent Purple House in community meetings, forums, and engagement activities.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, WHS requirements, and continuous improvement practices.
- Other duties as required within trained capacity and level.
About You
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in cultural advisory roles with demonstrated leadership capability.
- Strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, and issues affecting remote Central Australia, NT, WA, and SA.
- Experience working within Aboriginal organisations or community-controlled environments.
- Strong cross-cultural communication and relationship-building skills across diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of First Nations history, health inequities, and impacts relating to kidney disease.
- High-level written, verbal, leadership, and strategic collaboration skills.
- Committed to Aboriginal self-determination, cultural safety, and community-led approaches.
- Aboriginal language skills relevant to Purple House communities will be highly regarded.
