Nunkuwarrin Yunti is the largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation in metropolitan Adelaide. We provide a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to access services, guided by our values of Caring, Community, Communication and Consistency.

We are seeking a dedicated Enrolled Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner to join our Primary Care Services. You will work with the team to deliver high-quality, culturally safe care, support clients with health education and chronic condition management, and build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders. Your role will also involve maintaining confidentiality, contributing to a positive team environment, and supporting our organisational standards and accreditation.



Description

About the Role 

You will:

  • Work collaboratively with all members of Primary Care Services to provide day-to-day client care
  • Work collaboratively to ensure the delivery of high quality and culturally safe client care and contribute to the smooth running of the clinic
  • Liaise with and broker services between clients and internal and external stakeholders as necessary
  • Provide health education and services to clients on issues of some complexity, including chronic conditions self-management
  • Perform tasks of a sensitive nature including the provision of health information requiring the exercise of judgement, initiative and confidentiality.
  • Maintain a positive and harmonious working relationship and actively contribute to organisational activities
  • Participate in personal and professional development activities
  • Ensure compliance with a range of administrative practices which support Primary Care Services and Nunkuwarrin Yunti as an Organisation, including accreditation.

About You 

You bring:

  • Completed qualification in a Diploma of Nursing, or a Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice.
  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) or Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the contemporary issues facing Aboriginal people and the impacts these issues have on Indigenous Australian societies and cultures and health
  • Experience using computer software, especially Patient Information Recall Systems and other databases.
  • Well-developed clinical skills and a sound knowledge of best practice approaches to comprehensive primary health care.
  • Organisational skills, self-confidence and the ability to work independently and autonomously, assess priorities, organise workload and meet deadlines
  • Ability to resolve conflict, solve problems and negotiate outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisational staff, and other providers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally, with a wide range of people from Aboriginal communities, government and other agencies, committees and other bodies.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to workplace diversity, workplace participation, Work Health and Safety


Skills And Experiences

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a Community Controlled Health Service.
  • Significant experience in care planning (including but not limited to, the preparation of wellness plans, asthma and diabetes cycle of care plans).
  • Knowledge of existing social / health issues within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Knowledge of contemporary Aboriginal culture and societies and aspirations of Aboriginal people.
  • Experience using the Communicare patient recall information system.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement activities including clinical file auditing
