Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit a Director Engagement, Indigenous Strategy and Services, External Engagement and Advancement to support the delivery of key Information and Communications Technology program (ICT) initiatives that help shape the future of education, research, and innovation.
Why join the University of Sydney?
Join one of Australia’s leading universities at a pivotal point of change, where technology is evolving to better support student learning, empower teaching excellence, and enable research delivery at global scale.
ICT is central to delivering the University’s academic mission. Working across faculties, disciplines, and research communities, you will shape the platforms, services, and partnerships that enable student success, strengthen teaching, and accelerate research impact.
This work spans both the critical services that keep the University running every day and the ongoing improvement of systems and experiences.
With strong investment and clear direction, you’ll operate in a large and complex environment where your contribution has visible, meaningful impact across the University.
You’ll collaborate across academic and professional communities to help shape a more connected and capable University, supporting teaching excellence, research impact, and student success.
The opportunity
This is a senior engagement leadership role at the centre of the University’s digital transformation. You will act as a trusted advisor to leaders across Indigenous Strategy and Services, External Engagement and Advancement, translating business priorities into clear digital direction and helping shape a more connected, responsive ICT function.
These portfolios sit at the heart of how the University builds relationships, strengthens communities and advances its strategic goals. You will lead high-value stakeholder partnerships, guide demand into the ICT pipeline, and help shape ways of working in a function that is still evolving — making this a genuine opportunity to influence strategy, service experience and long-term impact.
What you’ll do
Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Indigenous Strategy and Services, External Engagement and Advancement as their primary ICT partner
Shape portfolio roadmaps, capture demand and align digital priorities with the University’s Digital Sydney strategy and broader ICT roadmap
Provide executive-level guidance on technology opportunities, with particular relevance to platforms such as Salesforce, Adobe Experience Manager and related digital engagement tools
Lead a high-performing team of ICT Business Partners and service specialists, creating alignment across ICT and the University
Act as a senior escalation point, using insight, judgement and influence to resolve complex issues and drive continuous improvement
What we’re looking for
A senior ICT engagement leader with strong executive presence and the ability to build credibility with complex stakeholder groups
Experience translating business needs into practical digital strategies, roadmaps and solutions in a large and complex environment
Strong background in stakeholder-facing technology domains such as CRM, digital platforms, web, marketing technology or advancement systems
Demonstrated people leadership, commercial judgement and the ability to work through ambiguity, change and competing priorities
Indigenous cultural sensitivity and the ability to build respectful, effective relationships with Indigenous communities and colleagues
