About the Role

The Aboriginal Services Manager is responsible for leading program delivery, supporting staff capability, and ensuring services are delivered in line with contractual, legislative, and organisational requirements. The role also provides strategic and cultural guidance to support the promotion and integration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness across Marist180. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor program performance, outcomes, and reporting requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and performance manage Casework teams across Daramu, Mudjin Byala, and CSP.
  • Identify and respond to workforce needs to support recruitment and service delivery.
  • Promote and embed the ARC care model into operational practice.
  • Ensure staff adherence to organisational policies, procedures, and program requirements.
  • Lead and develop high-performing, engaged, and client-focused teams.
  • Undertake regular supervision and performance management of direct reports.
  • Maintain a safe working environment in line with Work Health and Safety requirements.
  • Contribute to and lead operational meetings, ensuring all reporting and notifications are completed within required timeframes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including government departments and community organisations.
  • Chair the Aboriginal Steering Committee (ASC) and contribute to the RAP Committee.
  • Provide cultural advice and insights to Senior Leadership and contribute to organisational strategy.
  • Strengthen cultural and community connections across services and programs.
  • Advise on and support the creation of culturally safe and inclusive environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and staff.
  • Oversee the delivery and continuous improvement of Cultural Awareness Training across the organisation.


Skills And Experiences

Essential Criteria:

  • Identifies as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and is accepted as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person in the community in which he/she lives.
  • Extensive knowledge of cultural community protocols. 

Qualifications:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, and/or evidence of completing a relevant qualification and 10 years sector.

Experience and Skills:

  • At least 3-5 years’ management or supervisory experience in a similar role, preferably in a NFP environment.
  • Experience in leading people in a community service setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven decision-making abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and data management abilities.
  • Well-developed computer skills.

Work Requirement:

  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Clear National Criminal History Check.
  • Unrestricted NSW driver’s licence.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Provide M180 consent to complete a verification of the Residential Care Workers Register managed by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.
