About the opportunity

We have an exciting casual opportunity available for a Vegetation Field Team Member based in Rockhampton, with the potential for ongoing work. The role operates Monday to Thursday, with roughly 10-hour days.

You will work across a variety of land conservation projects, including chemical spraying of roadsides and protected areas, as well as weed control, revegetation planting, and maintenance activities. Tasks will include weed identification, spraying weeds (from vehicles and backpack units) hand cutting and picking weeds. Chemical handling, site navigation, map reading, and data logging. There may also be some overnight stays away from home.

This is a fully field-based role, requiring resilience and a positive attitude towards working in a variety of weather conditions. Flexibility is important, as occasional overnight stays may be required.

About you

To be successful in this role, the following are highly regarded but not essential:

  • Experience or interest in identifying native flora and invasive species
  • Relevant tickets or experience operating and maintaining equipment such as mowers, chainsaws, and brush-cutters
  • 4 x 4 experience
  • Basic technology skills
  • Ability to work remotely

  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Ability to pass a police check and regular drug and alcohol screening
  • Mature attitude, responsible and able to work unsupervised
  • Physically fit and willing to undertake labour intensive work
