About

Muddy Sneakers is seeking a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with nonprofit experience to join our board of directors as treasurer.

Muddy Sneakers Outdoor Classroom is a nonprofit environmental education organization serving elementary school students across North Carolina. Through a curriculum aligned with the NC Essential Science Standards, we take students out of the classroom and into nature—transforming nearby public lands into living classrooms. Since our founding in 2007, we’ve introduced tens of thousands of students to hands-on science learning rooted in the local ecosystems they call home. In the 2025–2026 school year, we will serve more than 4,000 students across half the state—from the Mountains to the Piedmont and beyond.

As we expand our programs from the 50 counties we serve to the Coastal Plain, we seek new volunteer Board Members in the Triad and Triangle region to support our continued growth. We welcome individuals passionate about environmental education, schools, and connecting youth to the natural world.

  • Make a personally meaningful annual contribution to the organization

  • A personal commitment to our mission of conservation and outdoor education
