We are seeking a diligent and organised Research Assistant to support high‑impact, Indigenous‑led research within the First Nations Cancer and Wellbeing Research (FNCWR) Program, based in the School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine. Working within a collaborative, purposeful and culturally grounded team environment, this role supports research that aims to improve cancer outcomes and the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through respectful partnerships, co‑design and community‑driven methodologies. The Program is supported by major competitive funding and offers the opportunity to contribute to work that creates meaningful change together.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting qualitative research activities, including organising and co‑facilitating interviews and Yarning Circles, and assisting with data collection and analysis.
Managing research databases, undertaking literature searches, and supporting data management and analysis under the guidance of senior researchers.
Assisting with preparation of reports, publications, conference papers, policy briefings, ethics applications and project reporting.
Providing research administration and coordination support, including organising seminars, workshops, research activities, and general project administration.
This is a full‑time (100%), fixed‑term position for up to 12 months at HEW Level 5.
You are a motivated, adaptable and collaborative professional who enjoys contributing to purposeful, values‑led research in a team environment and working respectfully with First Nations peoples and communities.
Completion of a degree qualification in a health services, public health or related field; or completion of a diploma with relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in research administration, or the demonstrated capacity to rapidly develop knowledge of research policies and procedures.
Strong skills in computer applications for word processing, data storage, retrieval and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated ability to undertake literature searches and manage research documentation.
Well‑developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and independently when required, exercising sound judgement and initiative.
Experience with qualitative research methodologies is desirable.
