Use your community liaison skills to contribute to sustainable water management for the environment and communities of NSW
Our Aboriginal Communities Water and Sewerage Program team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer – Community Liaison to manage and coordinate the development, implementation and evaluation of complex projects to achieve project outcomes and supports the achievement of organisational objectives, specifically, displaying initiative to develop and improve systems and processes to maximise the efficiency and output of the team.
In addition, the Senior Project Officer supports the delivery of the Aboriginal Communities Water and Sewerage Program (ACWSP) by developing communication strategies that enhance Aboriginal community participation and engagement. This supports the provision of water supply and sewerage services to over 60 selected Aboriginal communities across NSW.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
About You
You are a proud Aboriginal person who brings cultural knowledge, lived experience, and community connection to your work. You value collaboration and have a strong history of working respectfully and cooperatively within teams, contributing to shared outcomes that benefit Aboriginal communities.
You communicate with clarity, empathy, and cultural sensitivity—especially when engaging with Local Aboriginal Land Councils and Aboriginal Community organisations. You understand the importance of listening deeply, building trust, and maintaining respectful relationships.
You are confident managing programs and providing support across diverse and geographically spread locations. You thrive in fast-paced environments, balancing competing priorities and limited resources while remaining focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. Your proactive and responsive approach ensures that projects move forward, even when timelines are tight and stakeholders are many.
Importantly, you navigate complex and sensitive issues with care, discretion, and cultural awareness. You are attuned to the political and social dynamics that impact Aboriginal communities and are skilled at identifying concerns early and responding in ways that uphold cultural integrity and community expectations.
