About the Role
As the Senior Indigenous Student Support Advisor, you will play a pivotal role within the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre, delivering high-level, strength-based support that enables Indigenous students to thrive. You will work closely with students from diverse backgrounds, including postgraduate, mature-age and those with additional needs, providing tailored guidance that supports both their academic progress and overall wellbeing.
This role involves case managing complex student cases, applying trauma-informed practice, and building strong, trusted relationships with students. You will collaborate across the University, including with the Indigenous Student Success Officer, Future Students teams and key academic and professional units, to ensure students receive coordinated, wraparound support from enquiry through to graduation.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will provide expert case management and specialist advice to students, supporting them through complex academic and personal challenges using a culturally safe and non-judgmental approach. You will design and implement targeted strategies to improve access, transition and retention, ensuring students are supported at every stage of their journey.
You will help shape engagement strategies, improve service delivery systems and promote best practice approaches, supporting sustainable and professional service delivery.
Your work will directly influence student success outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement across the Centre.
About You
You bring a strong background in student support, social work, welfare or psychology, along with demonstrated experience managing complex and sensitive cases. You are confident exercising sound judgement, taking initiative and delivering high-quality, student-centred services in a fast-paced environment.
You have a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and are committed to strength-based approaches that empower students. Your interpersonal skills enable you to build trust quickly and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, academics and community members.
You will also bring experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, along with a genuine commitment to cultural safety, equity and inclusion.
