About the role

The Senior Coordinator Aboriginal Experiences plays a key role in growing and strengthening Aboriginal cultural tourism across NSW by supporting the development and delivery of initiatives that enhance the visibility, quality and accessibility of Aboriginal visitor experiences.

Working under the guidance of the Visitor Experiences Manager, the role coordinates the implementation of programs that build the capability, sustainability and market-readiness of Aboriginal tourism operators. It works closely with Aboriginal stakeholders, visitor economy operators, and internal teams to support culturally respectful engagement, effective program delivery and integration of Aboriginal cultural tourism within broader visitor economy initiatives.

The role contributes to the delivery of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 and the agency’s Yindyamarra Action Plan, supporting the inclusive and authentic representation of Aboriginal culture in tourism and helping ensure Aboriginal experiences are positioned as a core strength of NSW’s visitor offering.

Some of the key accountabilities of the role include –

  • Support the implementation of programs and initiatives that grow and strengthen Aboriginal cultural tourism across NSW, ensuring alignment with Destination NSW priorities and the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035.
  • Engage proactively with Aboriginal tourism stakeholders to provide data, insights and practical guidance, including one to one mentoring, to support the development of high quality, market ready Aboriginal visitor experiences aligned to visitor needs.
  • Assist with the coordination of culturally respectful stakeholder engagement activities and provide informed subject-matter advice to internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal tourism operators, regional partners and the NSW Tour Operators Council (NATOC) to support collaboration, inclusive representation and the identification of market opportunities and gaps.
  • Assist in the design and delivery of capability-building initiatives and contribute to the development and dissemination of resources and tools that enhance the quality, sustainability, and market-readiness of Aboriginal visitor experiences, and support Aboriginal tourism operators to improve visitor experience visibility, quality and visitor appeal across Greater Sydney and regional NSW.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have –

  • Stakeholder engagement skills/experience - a key function of the role is connecting with stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Project performance and management experience (preferred)

Essential Requirements

  • National Criminal Records Check.
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Marketing, Tourism or a related discipline and/or relevant experience.
  • This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.   1. is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  2. identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
