Make an impact as a Senior Accountant with our Indigenous External Financial Advisory Services team. This diverse team of professionals works with more than 270 Indigenous peoples, groups and organizations across Canada and shares a passion for learning and understanding their history, culture, and contributions to our country. With 500 team members dedicated to this sector, no other firm has invested as much time and resources into serving the unique needs of Indigenous communities. As a trusted advisor, you’ll provide expertise to empower Indigenous communities, organizations, businesses and individuals in navigating a dynamic social, political and economic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Indigenous community and enterprise clients to assess their accounting systems and assist in delivering tailored capacity-building initiatives
  • Assist with reviewing client accounting practices to create a strategic plan for growth, capacity development, and financial literacy
  • Support activities related to external financing, system implementations, and chart of accounts setup
  • Deliver hands-on training in accounting functions including assisting the client with audit preparation
  • Prepare finance policies and process maps, prepare recommended amendments as required
  • Provide training on general matters such as payroll, GST/PST, and T4 filing
  • Facilitate project updates to Management and Leadership
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

  • A degree or diploma in Business Administration or Accounting
  • CPA, CAFM, or equivalent designation
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and organizational finance
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities is a strong asset
