About the role

The Senior Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker provides culturally responsive mental health and social and emotional wellbeing support to Aboriginal children, adolescents and families. Delivers expert clinical care, cultural leadership, workforce supervision and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes and service quality across CAMHS.

Key duties of the role

• Provide culturally responsive assessment, support and therapeutic interventions for Aboriginal children, young people and families.
• Deliver cultural leadership, supervision, mentoring and training to staff and Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Workers.
• Build and maintain partnerships with Aboriginal communities, Elders and key stakeholders.
• Contribute to service planning, quality improvement, research and program evaluation activities.
• Provide expert cultural advice and leadership within multidisciplinary teams to support safe, client-centred care.
• Undertake regular outreach and travel between Northern and Southern Country regions (approximately every 2–3 weeks) to ensure equitable and consistent service delivery across CAMHS Country teams.

Skills and Experience

• Relevant qualification in mental health, health, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, Aboriginal health or a related field.
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, communities, and the social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal children, young people and families.
• Demonstrated experience delivering culturally responsive assessments, interventions and support services within Aboriginal communities.
• Proven ability to provide leadership, supervision, education and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder networks.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building and community engagement skills, with a commitment to social justice and willingness to undertake regional travel.
