The School of Indigenous Studies is seeking qualified part-time professors to support delivery across a range of programs. Courses within the School of Indigenous Studies include both culturally grounded and academic content areas, such as math, science, health, language, and social sciences, delivered through Indigenous perspectives and approaches.
Part-time faculty are responsible for delivering high-quality, culturally grounded, and academically sound instruction that supports student learning, engagement, and success in both classroom and applied learning environments.
Candidates will be considered based on alignment between their education, professional experience, and the specific course(s) being delivered.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., Indigenous Studies, Social Work, Education, Health, or a related discipline) is preferred
A combination of a relevant diploma or degree and extensive, directly related technical or professional experience may be considered
Demonstrated academic and/or technical expertise in the subject area(s) being taught, with the ability to deliver course content aligned with post-secondary standards
Experience teaching or facilitating adult learners in a post-secondary, training, or community-based environment is preferred
Demonstrated ability to deliver structured learning, including:
Preparing and delivering course content
Supporting student learning and engagement
Evaluating student performance and providing feedback
Demonstrated ability to deliver post-secondary curriculum in alignment with course learning outcomes, including assessment, evaluation, and student support
Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous histories, worldviews, and contemporary realities.
Experience using educational technologies and/or delivering courses in in-person, online, or blended formats
Lived experience as a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person
Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills
Must be able to reliably commute to North Bay, ON
Responsibilities:
Deliver assigned courses in alignment with approved curriculum and learning outcomes
Prepare and facilitate engaging and structured learning experiences, including lectures, discussions, and applied or experiential activities
Evaluate student performance and provide timely and constructive feedback
Create a culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support student success
Maintain communication with students and respond to inquiries in a timely manner
