About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
The Midwifery Group Practice Midwife will aim to expand the options for maternal health services for pregnant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and women having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander baby. The MGP midwife will provide clinical, cultural, educational and psychological support as well as enhancing the seamless transition to child and family health nursing and to other services or agencies as required. The MGP midwife will also have the opportunity to work with women who are not Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, when there is space within their caseload.
Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, and women having an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander baby, and their partners and families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal/newborn period.
