Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University of Waikato as a Pūkenga/ Lecturer in Kaupapa Māori Psychology. You will contribute to teaching, research, and service while building your academic profile in a supportive and research-active environment.

You will be involved in delivering the University’s innovative Kaupapa Māori Psychology major and developing research that contributes to Māori advancement and wellbeing.

We are currently recruiting across multiple academic levels within Kaupapa Māori Psychology. While this advert is for a Pūkenga/Lecturer role, candidates may also be considered for Pūkenga Matua/Senior Lecturer or Ahorangi/Professor opportunities depending on experience.

Salary will be in the range of $92,603 to $110,407 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based at either our Hillcrest or Tauranga Campus..

  • Evidence of high-quality research or strong research potential 
  • Effective teaching capability across undergraduate programmes 
  • Interest in postgraduate supervision and development 
  • Understanding of Kaupapa Māori methodologies and contexts 
  • Commitment to working with diverse students and communities
