• Part-Time (0.4FTE | 14 hours per week), Ongoing Position
• Based at Western’s Parramatta South Campus
• Base Salary: HEW Level $33,638 to $38,041 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading (pro-rata based on 0.4 FTE)

The Opportunity
The Division of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Leadership plays a leading role in advancing Indigenous excellence, truth‑telling, cultural safety, and meaningful engagement across Western Sydney University. This role is central to that mission, with a primary focus on supporting the full life cycle of The Yarning Circle publication, from planning and content development through to production, release, and post‑publication engagement.

As the Project Support Officer, you will build and maintain relationships across multiple University teams to source rich, diverse content for The Yarning Circle, ensuring the publication reflects the breadth of Indigenous experiences and achievements. Your collaborative approach will help ensure authentic representation and wide participation from students, staff, and community contributors.

You will also assist in shaping the University’s external image by contributing to media strategies, identifying opportunities, and crafting high‑quality content that highlights Indigenous leadership and success.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you will support the development of media and digital communications, and help elevate Indigenous storytelling across multiple platforms, anchored by your ongoing stewardship of The Yarning Circle publication.

What Success Looks Like

• Coordinate the successful, end‑to‑end delivery of The Yarning Circle, ensuring each edition is produced on time and to a high standard.
• Source rich, diverse and authentic content by building strong relationships with Indigenous students, staff and community, and staying across activities, achievements, and initiatives happening across the University.
• Attend events, gatherings and activities to capture stories firsthand and strengthen connections with contributors.
• Promote The Yarning Circle through strategic communications, digital engagement and coordinated outreach across University channels.
• Support the visibility and impact of The Yarning Circle by monitoring engagement, identifying opportunities for broader reach, and contributing insights to guide future editions.

About You

• You identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, consistent with Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act.
• You bring qualifications and/or experience in media, communications, publishing or editorial coordination.
• You demonstrate strong writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to identify compelling content and shape it into clear, engaging narratives.
• You have experience working with Indigenous people and communities, with a strong commitment to cultural integrity.
• You work effectively both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team, managing competing deadlines across a publication cycle.
• You are able to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
• Experience with digital engagement or social media is beneficial, particularly in promoting published content and expanding the reach of The Yarning Circle.
