  • Full-time, fixed-term to June 2027 (maternity leave backfill) at HEW Level 6
  • Parramatta South campus, with flexible working arrangements
  • Salary: $97,693 – $104,713 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading
  • NSW Driver Licence required to travel between campuses

The Opportunity
The Indigenous Employment Officer plays a key role in increasing Indigenous employment across Western Sydney University and improving employment outcomes for Indigenous Australians.

Working closely with the Manager of Operations, Indigenous communities, internal stakeholders, and industry partners, you will deliver a range of employment initiatives including:

  • The Ignite Indigenous Traineeship program
  • Professional development and training pathways for Indigenous staff
  • Relationship-building with employers, government agencies, and education partners
  • Community Engagement outreach to increase Indigenous Employment at Western Sydney University
  • Promotion and reporting on Indigenous employment initiatives and outcomes

This is a collaborative, community-centred role that supports the University’s commitment to Indigenous growth, opportunity, and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Indigenous employment programs, ensuring culturally supportive and high‑quality delivery.
  • Work with Schools, Divisions, and external partners to identify employment and placement opportunities.
  • Support Indigenous students in internal recruitment processes and employment preparedness.
  • Assist with securing and administering government or organisational funding for traineeships and staff initiatives.
  • Develop marketing materials to promote Indigenous employment programs.
  • Provide advice, mentoring, and ongoing support to Indigenous trainees and program participants.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and communicate outcomes to key stakeholders.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with Indigenous communities, employers, government agencies, students, and staff.

About You
You identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, as authorised under Section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

You will also demonstrate:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in career development, recruitment, employment programs, project management, business, or a similar field.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confidence engaging across all levels, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with community, students, and industry.
  • Experience coordinating projects, managing competing deadlines, and delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing and developing promotional content.
  • Hold a current NSW Driver Licence.
