Salary - $87,199.00 - $95,482.00 pa, plus superannuation and leave loading

Your role
The role within the Aboriginal Employment Strategy team will provide high-quality project and administrative support to assist in the successful delivery of key initiatives and priorities. You will work closely with team members to support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a range of projects and programs that contribute to achieving Aboriginal employment outcomes across DCJ.

What you’ll do
As a Project Support Officer, you will provide high-quality administrative and project coordination support to the Aboriginal Employment Strategy team, contributing to the successful delivery of strategic projects, programs and events. You will coordinate project activities, maintain accurate records, support reporting requirements, and assist with implementing key initiatives.
Working collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you will build effective relationships and help ensure projects are delivered efficiently and achieve intended outcomes.
As part of the Employee Experience and Learning – Aboriginal Employment Strategy team, you will contribute to meaningful work that strengthens the Aboriginal workforce and supports a culturally safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace across DCJ.
What we’re looking for
As a Project Support Officer within the Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) team, you will provide high-quality administrative, project and program support to assist in the development, coordination and implementation of Aboriginal employment policies, strategies and initiatives across the Department. You will contribute to workforce strategy implementation, support Aboriginal employment networks, coordinate department-wide initiatives, and assist in delivering programs that strengthen Aboriginal attraction, retention, career development and leadership.
You will be highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and consistently deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
The team is committed to delivering meaningful initiatives that create a positive impact on the future DCJ workforce, with a strong focus on strengthening Aboriginal employment outcomes and supporting the growth, development, and representation of the Aboriginal workforce across the Department.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role because its primary purpose is to deliver services that benefit DCJ's Aboriginal workforce and contribute to improved Aboriginal workforce development outcomes across the Department.
We are seeking an Aboriginal person who brings strong cultural knowledge, credibility and connections, together with the ability to engage respectfully with Aboriginal employees, communities and stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate cultural capability by applying Aboriginal perspectives to their work, fostering culturally safe practices, and supporting initiatives that strengthen Aboriginal employment, representation and career development across DCJ.
Given the nature of the role, it is essential that you demonstrate a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultures, communities, histories, organisations and ways of working, informed by your lived experience and cultural knowledge. You will apply this capability to build respectful relationships, work in culturally responsive ways, and contribute to initiatives that foster culturally safe and inclusive workplaces for Aboriginal employees.
As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons, Australia’s First Nations people.
