    Position:     Native American Program liaison 
    Supervisor:  Director  

    General Job Description: To support academic and cultural outcomes by assisting elementary schools with Native education and community engagement specifically with communicating with parents/guardians. The Native American Program liaison will also assist with the Johnson O'Malley (JOM) parental cost process at the elementary schools, and provide support services by engaging teachers, students, parents and community.  

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:  
    1. Assist with communicating with parents on lacking Certificate of Indian blood and Ed506 forms at the Elementary Level. 
    1.    Collect, track, and monitor JOM parental request processes (i.e. follow up with request and process all request with PRs and collaborate with requestor and vendors) 
    2.    Monitor the JotForm request, surveys, parental cost forms, etc. 
    3.    Assist elementary classroom teachers with procuring requests and compiling grant deliverables for reconciling. 
    4.    Support the Native Language and Cultural Resource Specialists and Elementary Schools with programmatic processes (i.e. resource availability, brochures, newsletter and program updates). 
    5.    Provide culturally appropriate resources to elementary schools and elementary classroom teachers throughout the school year.  
    6.    Offer at least four (4) Native language and culture awareness workshops, training and activities each school year at the district level. 
    7.    Offer language and culture enrichment by supporting elementary classroom teachers opportunities to bring culturally relevant consultants, take field trips and cultural activities. 
    8.    Assist elementary classroom teachers with Professional Development opportunities and information. 
    9.    Stay abreast of current federal, state and Navajo Nation compliance criteria. 
    10.    Attend all mandatory department meetings and grant planning meetings. 
    11.    Assist with the Indian Education Committee meeting preparation and maintaining documentation. 
    12.    Assist with compiling data for reporting purposes. 
    13.    Maintain confidentiality. 
    14.    Assist as an interpreter for Navajo Speakers and families. 
    15.    Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.  

    Qualifications: High School and at least 3 years of related experience preferred. Must work toward a Degree. 

    Knowledge: Knowledge of Federal, State and Navajo Nation language programs. HS graduation requirements. Being bilingual in Navajo is an advantage. Must have passion for helping students succeed.  

    Skills: Must have strong oral, written communication, and organization skills. Must be detail oriented, accurate and timely with assigned tasks. Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, work both independently and within a team, facilitate effective collaboration, and resolve conflict.  

    Physical Requirements: The following may be required: sitting, standing, bending, walking, reaching, squatting, kneeling and moving about the room or school. Ability to lift up to 50lbs related to equipment/office supplies/associated materials.  

    Equipment/Technology: Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology. Must be proficient with technology including databases, various software programs, internet tools and communication tools. 

    Work Environment: Must be able to work within various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignments without direct supervision. After hours work may be required. 

    Terms of Employment: Salary and work calendar established yearly by the district.
