ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a six-month part-time contract, 15 hours a week, 9am to 2pm, with some flexibility on which weekdays those hours are completed, across a mix of structured learning, face-to-face training, and practical activities in the office and classroom.
This role plays a key part in revitalising and conserving the Awabakal language. The primary focus is on learning and developing proficiency in the language, supporting the creation of culturally appropriate learning resources, and assisting with community language and cultural activities. Over time, and with guidance, the position will progress to supporting and delivering language sessions to others.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Miromaa Aboriginal Language and Technology Centre sits on Awabakal Country in Boolaroo (Lake Macquarie). We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia and Indigenous peoples around the world to revitalise and conserve language and cultural knowledge, using tools and methods developed by and for community. The Awabakal Language Program (ALP) is at the heart of our local work, led by a small, committed team focused on keeping Awabakal language strong for future generations. This role sits directly within that team.
