DescriptionThe Indigenous Relations Specialist leads the development and delivery of meaningful engagement initiatives with Indigenous communities connected to Badger’s projects. The role strengthens long-term partnerships by ensuring respectful consultation, advancing opportunities in procurement and employment, supporting project teams with cultural insight, and ensuring commitments and regulatory expectations are met. This position plays a key role in integrating Indigenous perspectives, economic participation, and relationship-building into project planning, execution, and ongoing operations.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the Indigenous engagement strategy aligned with business goals and workplace experience principles.
- Act as primary contact for Indigenous communities, leaders, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Partner with HR to deliver Indigenous awareness and cultural competency programs.
- Ensure compliance with Indigenous commitments in agreements, regulatory filings, and ESG frameworks.
- Foster trust-based relationships through respect, reciprocity, and transparency.
- Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost tracking for Indigenous engagement activities.
What We're Looking For:
- Diploma or degree in Indigenous Studies, Public Policy, Business, Political Science, Communications, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
- An equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and professional background will be considered.
- Indigenous candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
- 3–10 years of experience in Indigenous relations, community engagement, consultation, stakeholder relations, ESG, or related fields—preferably within the construction, transportation, infrastructure, civil works, utilities, or resource sectors.
What You'll Need for Success:
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain respectful relationships.
- Excellent writing abilities with a proven track record of preparing engagement reports, briefing materials, proposals, or external communications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
