Role Summary
Reporting to the Social Performance Manager, the Indigenous and Regulatory Partnerships Coordinator supports the delivery of Skeena’s engagement, regulatory, and social performance commitments across the Eskay Creek Revitalization Project. The role helps implement consistent, culturally informed, and complianceâaligned engagement with the Tahltan Nation, Indigenous Governments and Organizations, Regulators, and Communities of Interest. Working collaboratively with teams across the company, the Coordinator strengthens relationships, supports transparent communication, and contributes to effective social performance practices that advance Skeena’s project and corporate objectives.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
Engagement Strategy & Planning
Lead the development and implementation of Skeena’s engagement strategies, plans, and schedules to support project milestones and regulatory pathways, ensuring planning reflects the values and priorities shared through engagement with the Tahltan Nation, Indigenous partners, regulators, and Communities of Interest.
Incorporate community, technical, and leadership perspectives into engagement planning using culturally grounded practices and respectful relationship protocols.
Coordinate internally with technical and project teams to ensure engagement plans are feasible, well-timed, and integrated into broader company workflows.
Prepare general engagement materials (briefing notes, summaries, decks) to support staff in upcoming meetings, workshops, and regulatory engagement activities
Lead the planning, logistics, and delivery of Skeena’s engagement activities, including workshops, open houses, smallâformat meetings, and online outreach, and provide facilitation and documentation support.
Community & Indigenous Partnerships
Build and maintain strong, trustâbased relationships on behalf of Skeena with the Tahltan Nation, Indigenous Governments, and Communities of Interest by supporting transparent communication, consistent followâthrough, and respect for Tahltan stewardship principles.
Prepare technical briefing materials and support Skeena’s technical discussions with Tahltan leadership and regulators, ensuring accurate information flow and adherence to agreedâupon collaborative protocols.
Maintain systems and tools that support Skeena’s collaborative work with Indigenous partners, including shared platforms, document libraries, and coordinated communication pathways that enable effective regulatory processes and authorizations.
Implement Indigenous and Regulatory Partnerships integration across Skeena by coordinating and facilitating information sharing between corporate teams, site teams, and local community groups to ensure relevant parties are informed and engaged.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Skeena project managers, consultants, agencies, and other interested parties to support coordinated engagement and regulatory processes.
Communications
Oversees ECRP website refresh in collaboration with the Communications team, ensuring content is current, accurate, and reflective of Skeena’s commitments to Indigenous partners and Communities of Interest.
Supports development of quarterly newsletters in collaboration with the Communications team, including written content for mail outs, information packages, social media, key message preparation, and other project communications materials as needed.
Feedback, Tracking & Reporting
Lead the implementation of Skeena’s Community Feedback Protocol by tracking, analyzing, and summarizing feedback from Indigenous partners, community members, regulators, and the public to identify themes, emerging issues, mitigation needs, and opportunities for improvement. Support the tracking and execution of Skeena’s regulatory engagement obligations by maintaining accurate records and monitoring requirements across project phases.
Complete Isometrix data entry and reporting to maintain accurate, upâtoâdate records that support Skeena’s social performance tracking, compliance requirements, and Articleâ6ârelated reporting.
Track and report on Skeena’s external correspondence and compliance with regulatory engagement and assessment plan requirements, ensuring timely documentation and followâthrough.
Other Duties
All other related and general administrative duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
Education / Qualifications
Post-secondary education in environmental science, communications, public relations, Indigenous studies, social sciences, sustainability, or a related discipline preferred.
IAP2 certification, or working towards completion, is considered an asset.
Experience / Skills
2+ years of experience in Indigenous Relations, Environmental Science, strategic communications, and community or stakeholder engagement, ideally within the resource, energy, or industrial sector.
Demonstrated experience in supporting the development and execution of various strategies and compliance reporting across a range of stakeholders, including Indigenous communities, government agencies, and industry partners.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
Proven organization, planning, prioritization, and time management skills.
Highly detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and work independently when required.
Strong interpersonal and analytical reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities.
Effective team player who can contribute wherever needed.
Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others.
Willingness to travel as required.
Work Location & Conditions
This role can be based at any of Skeena’s office locations (Smithers, Vancouver, Dease Lake) or work-from-home arrangements can be considered. The role operates in a fast-paced working environment requiring the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
This position requires the incumbent to work away from home occasionally and to travel to different work locations or events outside of regular office hours, as well as to Skeena’s remote project sites, collaborating with internal and external parties.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is CAD $60,000–$85,000, in line with the competitive job market for such roles conducted in British Columbia. Salary ranges are guidelines and any offer will be determined by factors such as relevant education, training, and experience.
