Internship Title: HR Administrative Assistant Internship/volunteer

Location: Admin Office

Reports to: Human Resources Manager

Hours: flexible; approximately 15-18 hours per week

Duration of Internship: TBD; paid position(s) are not guaranteed at the completion of internship

Starting Wage Range: unpaid, service-learning internship

Internship Description

This position supports the success of NWYS by assisting with administrative tasks, particularly regarding staff trainings, within the Human Resources department. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble orientation and onboarding binders
  • Improve orientation process (optional if the challenge is suitable for intern)
  • Assemble personnel files
  • Maintain lists of completed trainings and other personnel file items and send reminders as needed
  • Troubleshoot and fix issues with training instructions as needed
  • Work with site leaders to schedule cross-trainings. Assign cross-trainings.
  • Post staff appreciation notes
  • Maintain strict professional confidentiality standards
  • Participate in relevant learning opportunities

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Background check clearance
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to navigate and handle paperwork
  • Tech savvy/ability to learn technology HR software quickly
  • Proficient with Word and Excel

 

Required within the first 30 days of term (provided by NWYS):

  • Full understanding of the CPS mandatory reporting requirements

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in communication studies, human resources, psychology, or related educational program
  • Knowledge of issues faced by young people at-risk of/experiencing homelessness
