Are you ready to lead, empower, and transform the Māori student experience at Massey University?

Te Tira Ahu Pae, representing all tauira studying across campuses and by distance, is looking for a dynamic, visionary, and culturally grounded leader to step into the role of General Manager – Māori Student Association.

This is your chance to shape a bold, mana-enhancing future for Māori students, leading a team that delivers high-impact advocacy, events, and services across our 4 campuses, Distance, Auckland, Manawatū, and Wellington.

What You’ll Do

As General Manager – Māori Student Association you will:

• Lead and inspire: Provide strategic leadership, cultural guidance, and operational oversight for the Māori Student Association.

• Champion Māori student voice: Ensure tauira aspirations shape strategy, advocacy, and services.

• Build strong systems & teams: Develop structures, processes, and resources that uphold tikanga Māori and support student wellbeing.

• Drive partnerships: Forge meaningful connections with Massey University, whānau, and Māori communities.

• Embed Te Tiriti & Kaupapa Māori: Make Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tikanga Māori visible in strategy, policy, and day-to-day operations.

• Deliver results: Oversee governance, compliance, budgets, reporting, and performance with clarity and excellence.

Who You Are

• A strategic thinker with proven senior leadership experience and a track record of organisational change.

• Confident operating within Te Ao Māori, with deep respect for tikanga and kawa.

• A relationship builder with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and inspire.

• Highly organised, solutions-focused, and resilient, able to thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment.

• Experienced in not-for-profit management, student associations, or higher education, with strong financial literacy.

• A champion of mana-enhancing leadership, equity, and culturally safe environments.
