About the role

ARRCS are actively sourcing a passionate and skilled First Nations Lead - Careers to join our team and lead the Workforce and Trainee development of First Nation employees within our organistion. 

This position is available on a permanent, full-time basis and attracts a salary of $54.20 - $56.67 / hour gross dependent on skills and experience.

This role is based in Darwin and will see you overseeing the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of programs that create positive employment, training, and career outcomes for First Nations peoples. Working closely with internal teams and community partners, you will help expand First Nations representation across ARRCS through pathways programs, traineeships, apprenticeships, and full‑time employment opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will present strong cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. You will bring previous experience in program leadership, engagement and workforce development. You will have excellent communication skills and excel in building positive professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be experienced in managing multiple priorities with conflicting timelines and enjoy leading and mentoring a small team of Career Specialists.

Skills & experience

To be considered for this role, we will be looking at the following experience and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, or organisations, with strong cultural capability and understanding.
  • Experience in program coordination, workforce development, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and deliver outcomes in a structured and timely manner.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to build trusted relationships with community, internal teams, and external partners.
  • Experience working with traineeships, apprenticeships, or employment pathways programs (highly desirable).
  • Experience collaborating with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or understanding of vocational training requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare written materials such as reports, presentations, and grant applications.
  • Knowledge of Reconciliation Action Plans and experience contributing to RAP deliverables (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to represent the organisation professionally in community and cultural settings.
