About the Role
As the First Nations Communications & Engagement Advisor, you’ll play a key role in shaping culturally relevant communication strategies and engaging with communities to ensure their perspectives are central to projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves both strategy and delivery, writing, creating, and connecting.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement communications strategies with a First Nations lens.
• Create culturally appropriate content, including media editorials, scripts, and community-focused messaging.
• Facilitate community engagement activities such as yarns and focus groups, interpreting insights for project teams.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure culturally safe practices.
• Work closely with videographers, writers, and engagement specialists to bring stories to life.
What We’re Looking For
• Strong experience in communications and community engagement, ideally in government, NFP, or social impact sectors.
• Ability to write and deliver culturally relevant content and strategies.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement and comfortable working autonomously.
• Personable and confident engaging with community members, executives, and public servants.
• Agile, adaptable, and passionate about creating positive change.
