Ko tōu ake mahi - What you’ll do

Our Executive Assistants provide high‑quality, proactive support to senior leaders, enabling the effective delivery of the Ministry’s work programme.

Working closely with the Group Manager, and managers in the Māori-Crown Relations group and wider Māori Health Group, the role manages communications, scheduling, and documentation, and acts as a key coordination point across teams and stakeholders.

As the Executive Assistant you will build strong relationships, contribute to continuous improvement, and ensure all work supports the Ministry’s objectives, equity priorities, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

  • Manage the Group Manager’s diary, inbox, meetings, and correspondence
  • Provide efficient administrative and business support, including reports, presentations, and records management
  • Support delivery of the work programme through coordination and planning
  • Collaborate with Directorate support teams to provide flexible, shared support
  • Build strong internal and external relationships while contributing to process improvement

Ko ngā pūkenga ōu - What you’ll bring

  • Experience supporting a senior executive in a PA or Executive Assistant role
  • Proven experience working within a government Ministry or agency
  • Strong capability across the Microsoft Office suite
  • Highly organised and proactive, able to manage priorities with accuracy, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a Māori Health context and support Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations
