About the role

Our Assistant Project Officer undertakes a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation and administrative activities to support the development and delivery of projects, in line with established project plans and objectives.

 

About you

You will enjoy engaging with a broad range of stakeholders and want to be part of a team delivering sustainable outcomes for NSW.   

You will support the Greening Our City program, which aims to mitigate the impacts of urban heat and climate change by increasing urban tree canopy and urban biodiversity to develop a more ecologically connected urban landscape. The program delivers grants, engages in partnerships, hosts council workshops and provides other support to promote urban greening outcomes.

 

In the Green and Sustainable Cities branch you will work as part of a team to create greener and more liveable urban areas by:

  • Supporting programs to fund council projects for tree planting and urban greening in urban areas, including through undertaking research tasks, grants administration, analysis and presentation of data, and supporting engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Encouraging greener and more liveable areas through supporting project management and the preparation of Departmental documentation such as briefing notes, responses to correspondence, project reports and website content, and reviewing social media posts.
  • Overseeing contracts and deliverables while supporting the implementation of partner led projects, including through supporting the review of project plans and reports and meetings with project stakeholders.

 

This role will form part of the DPHI Aboriginal Pathways Program. You’ll join a cohort of Aboriginal Assistant Project Officer’s. You’ll have access to a range of culturally supported activities such as:

  • Attending online monthly development sessions
  • Be supported to attend the Aboriginal Support Network, who gather twice a year through three-day conferences
  • Be matched with a mentor to support your career aspirations
  • Attending a face-to-face event to around development in Dec 2025 with the program cohort
