Contribute to culturally safe, community-led exhibitions that centre Indigenous voices.
The Opportunity
Western Sydney Creative is expanding its curatorial and community-engaged programs and is seeking an Assistant Curator who will contribute to Indigenous-led practices, culturally safe exhibition development, and community collaboration. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Curator to support research, curatorial development, public programming and the delivery of exhibitions.
You will assist in the planning, coordination and delivery of exhibitions across multiple Western Sydney University campuses, including artist liaison, materials preparation, documentation, logistical support, and implementation of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) protocols. This is an opportunity to build curatorial capability while contributing to access, diversity and student learning within a dynamic and values-led cultural environment.
The position offers hands-on experience across collections management, artwork care, public programs, and event coordination. You will develop skills in ethical exhibition practices, research methodologies, interpretation writing and audience engagement, while contributing to initiatives that strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities, artists, and cultural partners.
