Help strengthen wellbeing, resilience and connection in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. 

Amity Health is seeking an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health, Wellbeing and Resilience Coordinator to join our Mental Health Wellbeing and Resilience Program in the Wheatbelt region. 

This role is an opportunity to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, Elders and communities, supporting people to strengthen wellbeing, stay connected to culture and community, and access the services and opportunities they need. 

We recognise that people bring valuable skills and knowledge through community involvement, cultural leadership, caring for family, volunteering, lived experience and employment. These experiences are highly valued in this role.

About the Program 

Funded by the WA Primary Health Alliance, the Mental Health Wellbeing and Resilience Program provides culturally safe support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through individual and group activities. 

The program aims to strengthen physical, social, emotional and psychological wellbeing by: 

  • Supporting connection to community, culture and local services 
  • Improving access to appropriate health and wellbeing supports 
  • Increasing awareness of social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, alcohol and other drug concerns, and suicide prevention 
  • Strengthening resilience, confidence and community connections 
  • Assisting people to access the support they need when they need it 

 

About the Role 

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. 

Working closely with individuals, families, Elders, cultural leaders and local organisations, you will help create safe and supportive pathways for people to improve their wellbeing and strengthen their connections. 

In this role, you might spend your time: 

  • Yarning with community members about their goals, strengths and support needs 
  • Building trusted and respectful relationships within the community 
  • Supporting wellbeing activities, workshops and community events 
  • Connecting people with health, social and community services 
  • Working alongside Elders, families and local organisations 
  • Promoting awareness of wellbeing supports and opportunities available in the community 
  • Encouraging community participation, connection and resilience 

You’ll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team that values culture, relationships and community-led approaches. 

This is a part time opportunity, 2 days per week, based in Narrogin, WA 

 

About You 

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and creating safe, welcoming and respectful spaces where people feel heard, valued and supported. 

You may bring: 

  • Connection to, understanding of, or experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities 
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills 
  • Respect for cultural knowledge, community values and diverse experiences 
  • Experience supporting individuals, families, groups or community activities 
  • The ability to work independently while also being part of a supportive team 
  • Confidence using computers and learning new systems 
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively 

We understand that people gain valuable skills in many different ways, including through work, volunteering, community involvement, caring responsibilities and lived experience. 

The following requirements apply to the role: 

  • Current WA Driver’s Licence 
  • National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain) 
  • Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
