Aboriginal Programs Manager - Inner West Sydney

Shine People Solutions is an Aboriginal owned and operated business, we assist companies to expand their Indigenous workforce and recruit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across all levels of business. This is an Indigenous Identified role and is only open to applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

About the Role

This community-led organisation is seeking interest from candidates for the position of Aboriginal Programs Manager. The Aboriginal Programs Manager will provide leadership in managing, coordinating, and developing culturally relevant programs that support Aboriginal families. This role involves overseeing the delivery of both existing and new programs, ensuring that they are effective, culturally appropriate and aligned with the organisations strategic goals and values. The Aboriginal Programs Manager will work closely with Allied health professionals and community stakeholders, being responsible for shaping the organisation’s program delivery and ensuring its long-term impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the development, delivery, and evaluation of Aboriginal-focused intervention programs.
  • Ensure that all programs are culturally safe, innovative and aligned with the organisation’s mission and values.
  • Regularly assess program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and evaluation.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of social workers and Allied health professionals involved in program delivery.
  • Provide professional guidance, support and training to staff to ensure they are equipped to provide culturally appropriate services.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the team, ensuring staff feel valued and supported in their work.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, stakeholders and service providers.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and direction of Aboriginal-focused programs within Gunawirra.
  • Ensure that all programs comply with relevant ethical guidelines, policies and legislation and make recommendations for change where needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of program delivery and participant outcomes

 This is a full-time role based onsite at the Rozelle office with travel required to run the programs at the Westmead and Northern Sydney sites.  

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Sciences, Community Services or Human Services (desirable).
  • Understanding of the ethics of confidentiality and strong spoken and written communication skills.
