What This Role Involves
Centacare is seeking two part‑time (19 hours per week) Aboriginal Liaison Officers across Tamworth, Armidale, and Moree to play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to access culturally safe, respectful, and responsive services.
Working within the Family Wellbeing & Justice portfolio, you will walk alongside clients throughout their engagement with Centacare, strengthening trust, connection, and continuity of care through a wrap‑around support approach.
You will also contribute to strengthening relationships with local Aboriginal communities, Elders, and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) across Tamworth, Armidale, and Moree.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients
• Support clients to navigate services through information, advocacy, and referrals
• Work alongside clients to strengthen engagement and promote positive outcomes
• Build and maintain respectful relationships with local Elders, community members, and ACCOs
• Support staff to strengthen culturally safe practice across programs
• Participate in community events, consultations, and partnership activities
• Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and documentation
• Contribute to continuous improvement and culturally responsive service delivery

• Work collaboratively and role model Centacare’s values
• Take reasonable care for workplace health and safety
• Undertake additional duties as required
Key Performance Indicators
• Contact referred clients within one business day
• Record engagement activity within two business days
• Participate in at least one community or stakeholder engagement activity per month
Skills And Experiences
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
• Established connections with local Aboriginal communities, Elders, or ACCOs
• Strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and kinship systems
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality
• Intermediate administration and documentation skills
• Certificate IV or higher qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Aboriginal Health, or related field
Desirable:
• Experience supporting group programs or workshops
• Experience assisting clients to access government/community services
• Experience contributing to community engagement activities
