Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd is an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community controlled organisation currently seeking to fill the following vacancy within our Health and Wellbeing Services division. Kalwun Health and Wellbeing Service delivers a primary health care service to the people of the Gold Coast & surrounding communities.

About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Aboriginal Health Worker who is passionate about improving the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The successful candidate will provide high quality services including assessment, examination, treatment and case management, along with contributing to the development of models of holistic care incorporating continuity of care. There are two options available:
An Aboriginal Health Worker requires a minimum of a Cert III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care. For applicants who don't hold this, we offer an Aboriginal Health Worker Trainee program which will support you through completing this qualification whilst you work. We welcome applicants for both options.
Position Duties
- Provide health screening for clients in keeping with scope of practice
- Connecting and yarning with clients and families to the clinic to collect, collate and update their stories
- Provide health information and education to clients which promotes autonomy and choice
- Work alongside stakeholders and educators to provide health assessments in local schools
Essential Selection Criteria
- Minimum Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care
- Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their health
- Ability to communicate sensitively and to effectively engage with community built on mutual respect and regard
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated computer literacy including proficient keyboard and data entry skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work independently and to demonstrate initiative
- Current Qld or NSW C class drivers licence.

Additional Information
- This position requires the successful applicant to satisfy a national criminal history check and hold a current drivers' license.
- A Blue Card for working with children is a mandatory requirement. The 'No Card No Start' law applies to this position - a Blue Card must be obtained prior to commencement.
