Unique Career Opportunity: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner – Renal Unit (Dialysis)

Aboriginal people living with kidney disease in remote South Australia deserve care that sees them wholly - their culture, their community, and their clinical needs. As an Aboriginal Health Practitioner – Renal Dialysis with the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network, you will bring both your cultural knowledge and your clinical skills to Ceduna Hospital, sitting at the centre of a Multidisciplinary Renal Unit Team that is committed to making dialysis care genuinely safe and accessible for Aboriginal patients and families.

What You'll Be Doing

Based at Ceduna MPS, you will deliver Renal Replacement Therapy (RRT) to patients while embedding an Aboriginal lens across all aspects of care. Your work will directly reduce the barriers that Aboriginal communities face in accessing renal services - a critical need given that Aboriginal South Australians experience rates of end-stage kidney disease up to eight times higher than the broader population.

• Provide culturally safe dialysis care and support to Aboriginal patients and their families throughout treatment
• Apply skills gained through the Aboriginal Health Practitioner Renal Training Program (HLTRNL001 & HLTRNL002) in a supported clinical environment
• Contribute to improving cultural safety, patient satisfaction, and care effectiveness across the renal unit
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to strengthen the Aboriginal health framework within service delivery

What You'll Bring

• Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (Practice) or equivalent qualification
• Current registration with ATSIHPBA/AHPRA
• Completion of, or willingness to complete, HLTRNL001 and HLTRNL002 through SA Health's supported training pathway
• Demonstrated ability to provide culturally informed care to Aboriginal patients and communities
• Understanding of the health disparities facing Aboriginal communities in remote South Australia
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team in a regional setting
