In this role, you'll:

Work as part of a team making impact by helping shape infrastructure projects that respect, protect and celebrate Aboriginal cultural heritage.

In this influential role, you will work alongside Aboriginal communities, project teams and industry specialists to provide expert guidance on cultural heritage and land tenure matters.

You will identify risks early, drive practical solutions, and help deliver projects that are culturally informed, compliant and community focused.

You will build strong relationships with Aboriginal stakeholders and project teams to identify risks early and support culturally appropriate outcomes across a diverse portfolio.

Please note that we are recruiting for two opportunities:

1 x Ongoing (Permanent) Opportunity - based in Sydney

1 x Temporary Opportunity (up to 15 months) - based in either Wagga Wagga or Sydney

About you

You're passionate about Aboriginal cultural heritage and have experience working with Aboriginal communities, Traditional Owners, Native Title Claimants, Aboriginal Land Councils and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

You have a strong understanding of Aboriginal cultural heritage management and the application of relevant legislation, including the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 (NSW) and National Parks and Wildlife Regulation 2019.

You can confidently engage with a range of stakeholders, provide clear advice, and contribute to culturally informed solutions that balance heritage, community and project outcomes.

Your experience in and/or passion for Aboriginal cultural heritage, environmental planning, land management and Aboriginal community engagement will be highly regarded, and a Diploma of Cultural Heritage or similar qualification is beneficial.

You're willing and able to travel regularly across NSW, often multiple times per week, and hold a current unrestricted driver's licence.

This is an Aboriginal Identified role. To be eligible, you must identify and be accepted by the Aboriginal Community as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, in accordance with Part 6, Clause 23 of the Government Sector Employment Rules 2014.

Work Location

This role is based at our Parramatta office and requires regular attendance. Frequent travel across NSW is also required as part of the role.

Regional candidates will be considered, provided they can meet the role's workplace presence and travel requirements.
