Summary:

The Client Liaison Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the integration of early childhood, child and family health, and family support services within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in South Hedland, Western Australia. This position is vital for ensuring that children are healthy and developmentally ready for school, fostering strong community ties and promoting cultural safety in all interactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a primary point of contact for families and community members seeking support services.
  • Facilitate communication between families and service providers to ensure access to necessary resources.
  • Promote awareness of available community organizations and support services.
  • Uphold the principles of cultural safety in all interactions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Collaborate with local health and education services to enhance service delivery for children and families.
  • Conduct outreach activities to engage with the community and gather feedback on service effectiveness.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving child health and readiness for school.

Qualifications:

  • Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and is acknowledged as such by their community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community organizations and support services available in the region.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety.
  • Qualifications in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care Practice or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • Experience in community engagement or social services is preferred.
