First Nations entry-level jobs: where to start

Entry-level does not always mean one pathway. First Nations candidates can start with internships, casual jobs, volunteer roles, apprenticeships, traineeships, graduate programs, administration roles, support work or sector-specific jobs with training included.

Choose the pathway that matches your situation

Search by sector as well as level

Some entry-level roles do not use the words entry-level. Search by sector too: Indigenous health jobs, Indigenous government jobs, education jobs, community jobs, administration jobs and trades and labour jobs.

Build a weekly job search routine

Pick two or three searches, create Indigenous job alerts and keep your candidate profile current. Review new listings weekly, save strong roles and update your resume with any study, volunteer work, community responsibilities, casual work or certificates.

Use the Indigenous career hubs when you want a broader map of sectors and locations.
