About the role
You will head the University’s Aboriginal Education Centre (AEC) and be a leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander representative in the University. You will be responsible for leading and managing the administrative and operational requirements of the AEC, including financial management, supervision and development of staff. You will develop, implement and monitor adherence to policies, procedures and processes for the efficient and effective administration of the Centre, including preparation and implementation of an AEC Operational Plan.
You will:
take a leading role in the implementation of the University’s Indigenous strategy;
improve and monitor the effective Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student recruitment and support mechanisms University-wide;
increase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student access to, and participation and success in, university and TAFE study;
strengthen partnerships with internal and external stakeholders particularly Aboriginal communities and organisations within Victoria; and
represent the University at local, state and national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education fora.
About you
You will have extensive knowledge of the needs and aspirations of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly as they relate to education in general and tertiary education, and experience in developing strategies responding to these needs and aspirations.. I
You will possess demonstrated:
knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures;
leadership and management experience including the ability to determine resource needs and manage, support and develop staff;
ability to develop strong partnerships including excellent interpersonal skills, creative mind set and solution-based problem-solving skills; and
ability to develop and manage, budget and financial management requirements, produce high quality written reports and prepare grant applications and briefings to management.
