About the role
With 20 years on-the-ground experience, Jackson McDonalds First Nations Organisations practice group are WA’s most highly regarded and recognised legal practice providing expert services to the First Nations sector. We are proud of our long-standing involvement in many high-profile projects within the Native Title, Aboriginal business and Aboriginal community-controlled sectors.
We are seeking a talented Senior Associate/Special Counsel to join our Corporate Commercial team on a permanent basis, with both part-time and full-time candidates considered. This role will primarily support our growing client base of First Nations organisations and businesses throughout WA and beyond.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a diverse range of complex and challenging work including governance and compliance, corporate structuring, charity law, general commercial contracting, and transactions. You will work closely with clients including prescribed bodies corporate, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, Aboriginal businesses, Aboriginal community benefits trusts, trustee, company and government bodies.
This exciting and unique role requires a commitment to apply your deep legal knowledge and expertise towards the advancement of First Nations communities and their organisations. We act as trusted advisers for our clients, supporting the journey towards empowered organisations. This role requires a hands-on proactive approach where you are partnering with your clients to drive their desired outcomes. You will need to be flexible and creative, and keen to listen and learn from your clients – particularly regarding their cultural dynamics and community priorities.
