Miriam's Kitchen (MK) is a mission-driven nonprofit working to end chronic homelessness in Washington, D.C. through meaningful relationships, high-quality meals, and holistic support services. 

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Partnership Engagement Manager advances Miriam's Kitchen's mission by cultivating and maintaining corporate partnerships that provide grants, in-kind contributions, cause marketing, employee engagement, pro bono services, sponsorships, and visibility. Working in partnership with senior team members, this role serves as the main point of contact for corporate relationships and is responsible for meeting corporate revenue goals as outlined in the organization's strategic plan. 

Key Responsibilities 

Partnership Development & Stewardship 

  • Plan, execute, and monitor strategies to maintain and grow corporate donor relationships in coordination with the Director of Corporate Partnerships 
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward partnership prospects 
  • Manage a portfolio of active and prospective donors, creating ladders of engagement to strengthen their commitment to ending chronic homelessness through contributions of time, talent, and treasure 
  • Create, execute, and track donor touchpoints; convert prospects into first-time donors and upgrade entry-level to mid-level donors 
  • Develop, pitch, and execute partnership opportunities 
  • Manage day-to-day partnership needs, activation, and fulfillment of service and sponsorship opportunities 

Grant Writing & Reporting 

  • Draft and submit compelling grant proposals and invoices to corporate partners 
  • Write clear and compelling fundraising materials including pitch decks, proposals, reports, and stewardship pieces that communicate mission and impact 

Event Management & Fundraising 

  • Support and implement fundraising and cultivation events including logistics, volunteer management, programming, facilitation, and follow-up, including:  
  • Run 4 MK: Recruit sponsors and fundraising volunteers who participate in peer-to-peer fundraising efforts 
  • Annual Gala: Support fundraising efforts including soliciting sponsorships 
  • Support individuals and partners in their peer-to-peer fundraising efforts for Miriam's Kitchen 

Cross-Departmental Collaboration 

  • Collaborate across departments to coordinate meaningful service opportunities that connect partners to mission, build relationships, and drive fundraising 
  • Partner with the Volunteer Manager to ensure successful corporate volunteer shifts and employee engagement opportunities 
  • Work across departments to support corporate in-kind contributions 
  • Coordinate with Development and Communications teams on cross-platform fundraising campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms 

Data Management & Administration 

  • Track and record partner activities in the donor database, monitor data integrity, and execute prompt acknowledgment of corporate donations 
  • Complete administrative tasks as necessary 

Community Engagement 

  • Strengthen Miriam's Kitchen's profile and visibility in the community by attending and speaking at corporate and external events on behalf of the organization 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Requirements

Required: 

  • 3–5 years of fundraising, marketing, and/or communications experience 
  • Track record of identifying and securing new revenue from a variety of funders 
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills to effectively work with diverse audiences 
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills 
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to inform and motivate individuals and groups about Miriam's Kitchen's mission 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently 
  • Experience developing and executing fundraising campaigns including online appeals and events 
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Comfort using technology, including donor databases and project management software 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 

Preferred: 

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar donor database management systems 
  • Passionate commitment to Miriam's Kitchen's mission, vision, and values 
  • Strong interest in and commitment to social justice and equity by ending chronic homelessness in DC 
  • Comfort working with diverse populations, including staff, stakeholders, and guests with a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences 

Work Environment 

Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit at a computer station and operate electronic equipment; frequently required to talk or hear; required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch; must be able to lift objects up to 30 pounds. 

Travel: This position occasionally requires local travel between Miriam's Kitchen and partner sites. Attendance at events on nights and weekends as needed. Driver's license and personal transportation preferred.
