Description

What’s the role?

Westpac’s Gold Coast Engineering Hub is growing, and we’re inviting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander early‑career engineers to join our Next Wave intake starting April 2026.

Next Wave is a cohort‑style programme where you’ll be a permanent Westpac employee from day one — learning on the job while building digital products used by millions of customers. You’ll be supported with structured onboarding, technical training, mentoring, and a strong peer network so you can grow your skills and confidence quickly.

This is a full‑time, permanent role based in Surfers Paradise on Yugambeh Country, with 5 days on‑site during onboarding, moving to a hybrid way of working once you’re settled.

If you’re someone who enjoys problem‑solving, learning new things, and building practical tech — and you’re ready for a supportive environment where you can thrive — we’d love to hear from you.

What do I need?

We’re keen to hear from you if you have:

  • A background in one or more of the following:
    • Computer Science
    • Software Engineering
    • Data and AI
    • Cyber Security
  • Some exposure to coding or software development, for example:

  • A learning mindset
    • Curious, adaptable, and willing to have a go with new tools and technologies
  • Evidence of interest beyond coursework, such as:
    • Projects
    • GitHub or portfolio
    • Hackathons
    • Community tech involvement
    • Self‑driven learning
  • Work rights in Australia:
    • This intake is open to candidates who are eligible to work full‑time in Australia. Unfortunately, we’re unable to consider Student Visa (subclass 500) holders for this intake.
