Detroit Lakes Public Schools (ISD#22) is seeking an individual to assist Native American Students by reinforcing skills in regular education math classrooms and other classrooms as assigned.
Job Summary:
Other responsibilities include tutoring students during their directed study mainly in Algebraic Math. Other duties include assisting students with their education plans, making referrals, and collaborating about student needs with the School Counselors and other school staff. The position also assists with Title VII Student Eligibility Forms for the program. The position is specifically for Native American students and it is preferred that the person understands or has the willingness to learn about the culture’s importance with the students’ education and self image.
Education Requirements: - Minimum of Associates Degree (AAS) or equivalent required
- Course work or post-secondary education in Algebraic Math preferred
Experience: - One year experience working with students in an academic setting preferred
- One year experience working with students with Math preferred
Special Knowledge, Skills, Certifications, Licensure Required: - Ability to work effectively with students in a positive manner
- Ability to effectively meet with parents on occasions
- Ability to organize self and students
- Ability to effectively use a computer and calculator
- Possess knowledge or willing to learn about the Native American culture, it’s importance to the students’ education and their self-image.
Salary: $24.00 per hour
Hours: 29.5 hours per week when school is in session
