The team you’ll join:

Our purpose is to understand our clients horizons and support them through the voyage toward achieving tangible results for their organisation and Māori. We are equipped with qualified and capable members who are able to provide wide-ranging strategic transformation, financial, taxation, services while balancing these with the objectives of tīkanga Māori and whakaaro Māori. Our Deloitte Rotorua office and Hourua Par Rau team supports clients and communities across the region with a particular focus on iwi and private clients. Our passionate and expert team also administers several Māori incorporations and includes significant representation from Hourua Pae Rau, Deloitte New Zealand’s dedicated Māori services team.

Your typical day may include:

• Managing multiple clients and jobs concurrently
• Being in regular contact with clients and teams to ensure the smooth running of work
• Preparing financial statements and tax returns
• Preparing  management accounts 
• Identifying and providing insightful recommendations about a broad range of accounting issues in a timely manner. 
• Being a role model and mentor for our Accountants by providing on-the-job training and development opportunities, influencing the team positively
• Dealing proactively with incoming correspondence/enquiries and responding as appropriate
• Company secretarial assistance
• Prioritisation of a broad range of administration tasks
• Assisting with the creation of and updating reports for our clients and internal teams
• Develop and maintain effective and efficient office systems

Your expertise:

Bring your accounting experience, preferably within a professional services environment to this varied role and see what impact you could make. You’ll also bring

• 5+ years accounting experience.
• CA qualified (or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of the accounting and tax issues facing SMEs in NZ.
• Experience in financial modelling and forecasting would be ideal.
• Experience in FC or CFO roles is preferred but not essential.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with clients & colleagues.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills. 
• An energetic and proactive attitude. 
• Experience leading successful teams, mentoring junior staff, managing priorities and delivering to deadlines.
