International & Indigenous Languages Program Site Principal

About the INTERNATIONAL & INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES PROGRAM (Elementary):

The International & Indigenous Languages Program provides a variety of classes in non-official languages to elementary students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The International & Indigenous Languages Program is offered mainly on Saturday mornings from September 6, 2025 to June 13, 2026 (33 Saturdays in total).

The Board is seeking applicants interested in the position of Site Principal for the International & Indigenous Languages Elementary Program as follows:

Position:  IILP Site Principal (Elementary)

Time:  Saturday mornings

Mode of instruction: 

  • In-Person Locations:  Chapman Mills PS &  Roch Carrier PS

Salary: $7,000 + 4% vacation pay

Eligibility & Qualifications

Applicants must hold a valid Ontario Teaching Certificate and be employed as teachers or in leadership positions within the Board.


Preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Have the Principal Qualifications Part I and II courses;


Other related experience that will be considered an asset:

  • Have related administrative experience in a school setting;

  • Have experience in the International & Indigenous Languages Program

  • Have competency in an international language

  • Have international teaching experience

  • Have lived experience of a visible minority group


Administrative Responsibilities

The IILP Site Principal is responsible for all aspects of the program: fostering a safe, equitable, diverse, and caring learning environment for students and staff, directing, supporting and monitoring the implementation of the curriculum at the site, modeling exemplary teaching strategies to IIL instructors, collaborating and contributing to PD training days and educational meetings, performing administrative duties (personnel procedures, class registration statistics, reviewing report cards and providing appropriate support to instructors, submitting supply orders), handling emergencies, supervising and delegating office staff duties, supervising attendance issues, communicating and working with Continuing Education administration to ensure the delivery of an accountable quality program.

The duties of the Site Principal include responsibilities before, during, and after the posted dates for the program (including attendance to Site Principals’ meeting/s, contacting staff to ensure smooth start of the program, addressing issues with access to google meets and google classroom for staff and students, supporting the implementation of the IIL curriculum,  report cards supervision and guidance, and supporting instructors on the development of engaging language activities that support student’s learning.


Term

The successful candidate will be appointed to a position for the 2025-2026 school year with an option, by mutual consent, of a one-term renewal.

 Please note:  This position does not allow you to accrue Continuing Education seniority credits as per Article 40 of the Collective Agreement.

Interviews will be 30 minutes in duration.
