  • Full-time, Ongoing position at HEW Level 6.
  • Parramatta South Campus with flexible work arrangements.
  • Salary: $95,777 – $102,659 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading

This is an identified position supporting Indigenous student success across Western Sydney University.

The Opportunity

As an Indigenous Student Success Officer, you will play a pivotal role in fostering trusted, enduring relationships between Western Sydney University and Indigenous Australian communities. This position is central to delivering culturally safe, strengths-based support to Indigenous students throughout their academic journey.

You will work closely with the Badanami Centre for Indigenous Education and other student support units to enhance the student experience and embed Indigenous knowledges and perspectives across teaching, research, and engagement. Your efforts will contribute to improving access, retention, and success for Indigenous students while strengthening community partnerships.

This role also involves advising staff on culturally appropriate practices and protocols, coordinating student-focused events, and supporting initiatives that align with the University’s strategic commitments to Indigenous education and leadership.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous Elders and communities.
  • Provide culturally safe, holistic advice and support to Indigenous students.
  • Organise and contribute to culturally appropriate student-focused events and initiatives.
  • Advise on policies and practices impacting Indigenous students and communities.
  • Monitor and report on Indigenous support programs and initiatives.

About You

  • Identified position: Must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with extensive professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a complex environment.
