As an Indigenous Social and Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner, you will have the opportunity to provide culturally safe, holistic support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, fostering their emotional, spiritual, cultural, and mental wellbeing. You will collaborate with a dedicated team within Murrup Barak, enhancing the student experience and ensuring they feel culturally supported and connected throughout their academic journey.
Your responsibilities will include:
Provide Personalised Wellbeing Support: Offer one-on-one culturally appropriate social and emotional wellbeing support to Indigenous students.
Facilitate Culturally Safe Practices: Conduct yarning, informal counselling, and wellbeing check-ins grounded in Indigenous SEWB frameworks.
Develop and Deliver Workshops: Create and conduct workshops focused on wellbeing, resilience, healing, and cultural identity.
Build Community Connections: Foster relationships with Elders, community members, and cultural mentors to enrich student experiences.
You may be a great fit if:
You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and have experience supporting Indigenous people in a wellbeing, health, education, or community setting, utilising your strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships.
You may also:
Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trusted relationships.
Be capable of working independently and as part of a culturally safe, multidisciplinary team.
Have relevant qualifications in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, Youth Work, or a related field.

Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.
