Position Overview 

Reporting to the GM Strategic Partnerships, the role of the Indigenous Business Partner plays a pivotal role in fostering positive relationships, understanding, and collaboration between Indigenous communities and the organisation. This position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of culturally appropriate programs, facilitating effective communication, and advocating for the needs and aspirations of Indigenous peoples within the organisation’s operations and initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 Establish and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, organisations, and leaders within the local regions in which we operate.

  • Support the organisation’s commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and diversity.
  • Cultural Advice: Provide advice and guidance to staff and management on cultural protocols, sensitivities, and best practices for engaging with Indigenous peoples.
  • Training and Education: Facilitate cultural awareness training and workshops for staff to promote understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures
  • Provide support to the GM Strategic Partnership and CIS Leadership team on the Reporting on preparing monthly and quarterly reports to ensure compliance with relevant KPI deliverables, policies, and organisational commitments to Indigenous engagement.
  • Organise and support cultural events, ceremonies, and activities that celebrate Indigenous heritage and promote reconciliation.
  • In consultation with the GM Strategic Partnerships, act as a liaison between the organisation and local Indigenous stakeholders including Joint Venture Partners, fostering trust and collaboration. 

 

Qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies or related field (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, histories, and current issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and deliver culturally appropriate programs and initiatives.
  • Organisational and project management skills.
  • Competent in Word | Powerpoint applications
