This position highlights the collaborative working relationship between WRHA Human Resources Services and Indigenous Health Programs (Workforce Development). The incumbent will endeavor to enhance the capacity within the region to recruit and retain Indigenous employees in the development of a representative workforce. This position will be:
Focused on the development of strategies and programs that positively influence Indigenous employee retention and advancement in healthcare
Be a resource to facilitate increased Indigenous participation in the WRHA workforce through a variant of activities, services, Regional projects and organizational change initiatives. The IH-Workforce Development Director supports the development or Indigenous representative workforce strategies across the Winnipeg Health Region.
MAIN FUNCTION:
The IH-Workforce Development Director (IH-WD) supports the commitment of the WRHA in the development of a workforce that is reflective of the Region’s Indigenous population. The Director works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement strategies to enhance Indigenous participation in the health care workforce throughout the region.
Provide coordination and support to the WRHA recruitment and retention efforts, including support to appropriate recruitment, retention and workforce planning committees. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating recruitment efforts and will be responsible for developing, updating and distributing materials and tools in support of the recruitment strategies.
This is a designated Indigenous competition that is open to Indigenous applicants. Proof of ancestry will be requested, and those selected for an interview will be asked related questions.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
