In partnership with the Indigenous Defence & Infrastructure Consortium (iDiC), Datacom is offering paid trainee positions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of all ages. Whether you’re new to the workforce or ready for a career change, we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed. We will tailor the level of support to the individual so if you have studied or have some relevent experience we'd love to hear from you to!

About the Role

As a Trainee, you’ll learn on the job, shadow experienced team members, and build your skills in areas like Networks or Tech Support. You’ll start with the basics and grow into more responsibility as you gain confidence.

  • Foundational Learning and Support - Trainees learn core IT support skills including service procedures, support tools, and SLA understanding.
  • Hardware Setup and Troubleshooting - Hands-on experience with device preparation, deployment, and basic issue troubleshooting.
  • Operational Awareness and Safety - Trainees engage in asset management, small projects, and uphold workplace safety standards.
  • Progression to Independent Support - Growth towards independently managing incidents, documentation, and contributing to service improvements.

How We’ll Support You

Alongside Datacom’s training, mentoring, and coaching, you’ll also join the JLB-Yaran Indigenous Development Employment Program (IDEP). This program is designed to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through social and economic development, delivered by experienced veterans and Indigenous professionals.
